Ship Surveyor
The work of a ship surveyor is an essential profession in the maritime industry, which primarily involves inspecting ships, vessels and other marine vessels to ensure safety, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Certification Inspections: The surveyor participates in regular inspections for the certification of ships, both during construction and during their operational life. Periodic inspections are designed to ensure that the ship maintains the safety standards and performance required to continue to operate legally.
Damage and Damage Assessment: In the event of an accident, collision or damage to the vessel, the surveyor carries out inspections to assess the extent of the damage, determine the causes of the accident and provide recommendations for necessary repairs.
Monitoring of repairs: When the vessel requires maintenance or repair work, the surveyor may be involved in monitoring the works to ensure they are carried out correctly and to the required standards.
Analysis and Reporting: After each inspection, the surveyor prepares detailed reports containing observations made, conclusions, recommendations and necessary corrective actions. This documentation is essential for maintaining the ship’s records and for regulatory authorities.
Support to insurance companies: The surveyor may be involved in the investigation of marine accidents to provide technical information to insurance companies regarding any claims.
